Subproject B and C
In sub-project B of the HWS Murg Rastatt project, the dams are adapted to the calculated water level heights of a 100-year flood discharge (HQ 100). This means that the dams will be raised.
This will probably take place primarily in sections 2 and 3. If there are sections with excessively steep embankments, these will be stabilized together with the construction work to raise the embankment.
Sections that do not require embankment raising but have too steep an embankment angle will be stabilized as part of sub-project C.
Subproject E
Flood protection measures on the Gewerbekanal are planned in sub-project E. The aim is to prevent overflow from the mouth of the Flößerbach into the Gewerbekanal. This is because the dam at the mouth of the Flößerbach is interrupted. During floods, this causes flooding of the area behind it. As the water level of this flooded area is higher than the banks of the Gewerbekanal, the water from the flooded area flows into the Gewerbekanal and then into the city.
The plans therefore also provide for flood protection measures on the Gewerbekanal. The floodplain between the Gewerbekanal and the Murg is to remain in place.
NOTE: The Murg Rastatt flood protection, dam rehabilitation and aquatic ecology project is currently in the planning phase. The project website is therefore under construction and will be updated regularly.
