The Municipal Council is the main body of the city and the political representation of the citizens. It sets the goals and the framework for the city administration and decides on all important matters of the city. Unless the Lord Mayor is responsible by law.
The municipal council of the city of Rastatt currently consists of 47 honorary city council ors and the mayor as chairman. The 47 seats of the Rastatt municipal council are currently distributed among eight parties. The municipal council meets once a month, usually in public sessions. Interested citizens are cordially invited to attend. Access to the meeting room is barrier-free.
Citizens can also make their views known at the municipal council meeting. This takes place during the so-called citizens' question time. Question time usually takes place at the beginning of the first public meeting of every third month. Here, questions can be asked about municipal matters or suggestions and proposals can be made.
