Voluntary commitment - whether in the political, cultural, social, economic or sporting spheres - shapes the social interaction of a city and deserves the highest recognition. The city of Rastatt has various ways of honoring this special commitment.
City honorary pin
The city of Rastatt awards the city honorary pin in gold and in silver to people who have rendered outstanding civic service to the city of Rastatt. The pin of honor is available in gold for 25 years of service and in silver for 10 years of service.
Citizens' reception of the city of Rastatt
Once a year, the city of Rastatt invites to the citizens' reception in the Reithalle Rastatt. On this evening, the mayor awards the city's honorary pin to citizens who have been involved in voluntary work for many years. However, the citizens' reception also honors those everyday achievers whose work cannot yet be recognized with the city honorary pin. Those to be honored are nominated by the associations and institutions for which they do voluntary work. Another fixed component of the citizens' reception is the presentation of the citizens' award. It is donated and awarded by the Rastatt Civic Foundation.
Nominate volunteers for award
Recognize and name commitment
Anyone wishing to nominate someone for the City Honorary Pin may send an informal application listing the volunteer's functions and a justification for the award to the Office of the Mayor.
In the run-up to the citizens' reception, around 50 associations and institutions from the entire spectrum of club life and aid and rescue organizations as well as civil protection are also selected. These can then nominate a maximum of three people, depending on their size. Within five years, all associations and institutions in Rastatt will be considered.
