The twinning between Rastatt and Fano has existed since 1985/1986. Since then, there has been a lively exchange between associations, but also on a private level between people from Rastatt and Fanes. The reason for the foundation of the twinning was the historical connection between the two cities. The master builder of the Rastatt Residence Castle, Domenico Egidio Rossi, came from Fano.

The origins of Fano date back to the Roman era. Even today, the imposing city walls and the ancient city gate, the Arch of Augustus, bear witness to the impressive time of the great emperor. Located on the Adriatic coast, the city has about 20 kilometers of sandy beaches and a picturesque fishing port. To the west is the hinterland of the town of 60,000 inhabitants, characterized by vineyards and olive groves. More info about Fano can be found here.
